I started teaching full-time as a visiting assistant professor in multimedia journalism in the fall of 2013.
Since then, many MMJ students at OSU have gone on to work as multimedia journalists at television news stations, churches, on campus in multiple academic disciplines and many other ventures. The exciting thing about teaching multimedia is it has never been easier and more accessible in the history of the communication field.
Students in 3553 will pitch a beat backgrounder that will serve as the basis of all of their reporting stories for the semester. Each story will include an audio/photography component, video component and text component. Each project will be graded on a professinoal rubric as everything produced should be up to the quality required of entering regional and national competitions.
